Let's eat! This is another topic that I scoured the internet trying to figure out how much money we might expect to spend on food.
One important piece of information here is that we are not big on alcoholic drinks-that being said, we would get a beer or glass of wine here or there, but often opted to buy water. Our most expensive dinner (€35.00) was in Cinque Terre where we did share a bottle of wine with another couple. Most mid-priced entrees were very similar to here, ranging from €7.00-€12.00.
Overall, our meals ranged between €12.00-€25.00. However, we often opted not to have dessert at the restaurant, but instead wander the city and find dessert that way.
In some countries you had to buy bottled water (see The Netherlands home page) which ranged in price with .5L costing between €1.50-€3.00, and 1L around €5.00.
Other drinks
Coke light=€2.00
Beer= €2.75-€5.00
Caffe Macchiato = €3.00
Espresso Shots = €1.50-€3.00
In Italy, there was often a sitting charge around €2. This was listed on the receipt as a Coperto and Daniela gave us warning so we weren't surprised. Similarly, they often had different menu pricing depending on if you were taking the food to go, standing to eat, or sitting at a table, with the price increasing with the latter.
